STRAWBERRY MOON: 20" x 30" Epoxy Resin w/ Floating Gold Frame

Captured during the Summer of 2024 on the island of Sardinia, Strawberry Moon emerged from an evening where the night sky felt impossibly still and untouched. While traveling through one of the world’s renowned blue zones with his family, Matthew experienced a rare moment where the full Strawberry Moon appeared suspended against one of the darkest skies he had ever witnessed.

Sardinia carries a deep sense of history and mythology throughout the island, from ancient ruins and mysterious artifacts to longstanding stories tied to giants and Nephilim. Beneath the silence of the Mediterranean night, the moon felt less distant and more like a living presence hovering alone above the earth.

Captured with a Leica DSLR and M Frame lens, the composition embraces simplicity, contrast, and scale through the isolation of the illuminated moon against a near endless black sky. Printed on epoxy resin at 20" x 30" with a floating gold frame, the piece creates a striking sense of depth and atmosphere while allowing the darkness of the composition to take on an almost reflective quality.
