Captured in the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota, Tree of Life emerged from a moment of stillness deep within the Badlands. The twisted form of the tree stood alone with an almost spiritual presence, surrounded by scattered bones and remnants of wildlife weathered by time and landscape.
Matthew spent nearly twenty minutes at the base of the tree in prayer and meditation before creating the image. The longer he remained there, the more the environment carried a quiet intensity, as though the tree had been standing witness to the landscape for centuries.
Captured in sepia tone with a Leica DSLR and M Frame lens, the composition emphasizes texture, age, and the enduring energy carried within forgotten places. Printed in large format at 60" x 40" on white matte metal with a floating black frame, the piece reveals extraordinary depth and detail throughout the wood grain, terrain, and dramatic sky.
